Valve announced in a tweet that the Steam Deck has surpassed 2.000 Verified and Playable games. Considering where those numbers were a few months ago, Valve seems to have come a long way.
Valve's handheld was well received on February 25, but its library of "Verified" games wasn't as strong as it is today. At launch, there were only about 400 Verified games and 327 Playable games. Since then, Valve has been gradually expanding the Steam catalog.
Having a library of 2.000 Verified and Playable games is encouraging for early adopters, but there are many games that are considered Unsupported by Valve. Looking at the Steam Deck Approved games listThere are about 721 Unsupported games. This is partly because of anti-cheat software like BattlEye and Easy Anti-Cheat. Due to these restrictions, games like Destiny 2, Rainbow Six Siege, Halo Infinite, Fortnite are marked as Unsupported on Steam Deck.
While some games like Apex Legends have found a way to make them work on the Steam Deck, other developers are not so open about the Steam Deck. Addressing the question of whether Fortnite will receive Steam Deck support through an update to its anti-cheat software, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney said: “Fortnite no, but a great effort is being made to maximize Easy Anti Cheat compatibility with Steam Deck.” .
Hosting 726 games out of a total of 2.000 Verified and Playable titles at launch is a huge step up, although some games do not receive Steam Deck support. Valve continues to expand the Steam Deck library every day.
