According to a new report, Ubisoft is working on a new PvP battle arena game that could have a battle royale element.
Ubisoft has reportedly sent out test emails about this game, describing it as "an innovative and modern PvP battle arena game". The game was apparently codenamed Project Q, and its existence was first revealed in 2021 via the Nvidia GeForce Now leak (which has correctly revealed many projects so far).
According to the report, game tests are already underway for this project. It is said to have two modes, the first of which is said to be called "Showdown", a battle arena challenge with four teams of two players. The other mode is reportedly called the "Battle Zone", which features two teams in four challenges where 100 points must be reached to win. Similar to Hardpoint in Call of Duty and Land Grab in Halo Infinite, players must control certain areas of the map long enough to score.
The game will let you choose from a list of heroes, each with their own weapons, abilities and skills.
Exputer reportedly saw footage of Project Q and described the art style as similar to Knockout City or Overwatch.
Ubisoft Bordeaux's own website confirms that the team is making an as-yet-unannounced "F2P PVP" game, and that could be Project Q. Exputer also reminds us that Ubisoft is currently developing multiple games in the battle royale space. Another project called “Pathfindier”. The company's first correct move of this type was Hyper Scape, but it didn't find enough players and unfortunately Hyper Scape will close on April 28.
Game lovers should also keep in mind that just because a developer starts working on and testing a game does not mean it will be released. This is common across the industry, with gaming giant Blizzard admitting to canceling about 50% of games it developed prior to release.
