VALORANT 5.0 Patch Notes, the new Pearl map, Removal of Split from the map repositoryis a major update that brings a new competitive rank and multiple bug fixes to the game.
Patch 5.0 adds the new Pearl map, which takes players to an underwater city filled with vibrant visuals and areas. Players can enjoy the new map in a Pearl map-exclusive mode, where they can learn the map without the pressure of a competitive match. The Pearl map-exclusive game mode will be available for two weeks before it enters the competitive rotation.
The new patch also Ascendant adds a new competitive rank called This new rank is expected to rank competitively between Diamond and Immortal. It is expected that Valorant's uneven player distribution according to the clusters will be regulated with Supremacy. Here are the VALORANT 5.0 Patch Notes:
MAP UPDATES
PEARL
- NEW MAP: Pearl is coming!
- It's Pearl's turn to match.
- This matchmaking queue will be unranked to allow players to practice before entering competitive play.
- The Pearl-exclusive matchmaking queue will remain in the game for two weeks, after which the Pearl map will kick in during ranked matchmaking.
SPLIT
- We're temporarily removing Split from the map pool in ranked and unranked queues.
COMPETITION UPDATES
NEW LEVEL: Sublimity
- Added a new rank called "Glory" between the Diamond and Immortality tiers.
- We think we have quite a few players at the lower tiers, especially Bronze and Silver. When we looked at the rank distribution, we noticed that if we took the players in the lower tiers up, there would be a big density in the Platinum and Diamond tiers. By adding a new tier, we can more accurately distribute the players. In this way, we will not only preserve the prestige of the higher tiers, but also help to better define the skill level of each tier.
- With the addition of the new Greatness rank, the MMR objectives that determine when you rank down have also changed. We've increased the MMR targets of Immortality 1/2/3 and Radiant tiers.
- These goals appear as “you must have X MMR to get to this tier”. MMR targets determine your Rank Points (KP) gains and ensure your rank matches your MMR.
- This means that players below the rank of Greatness will rank up.
- To live up to our expectations of what it means to be at the highest tiers of VALORANT, players at Immortality and higher will have a little harder time climbing their tier from the previous episode. So the Immortality tier will be less dense in all regions.
- Due to the seasonal reset, it may be a little difficult to rank up at the beginning of the episode without struggling, but this time the reset will be "softer" compared to the reset in the last episode. The reset won't be too drastic this time, as we've moved the player base to higher tiers to fill the rank of greatness.
- But in the next level reset, you will probably be placed in a lower level compared to this section. Please note that a “softer” tier reset is unique to this episode due to the arrival of the Sublime tier.
- Group restrictions for rank of Greatness have been adjusted to be 3 tiers below or higher for the player in the rank of Greatness.
- This is also in line with the rules we have set for Platinum.
- The highest placement rank has risen to Exaltation 1 (formerly Diamond 1).
- The 25% HP restriction on factions of five now applies from Immortality 1 (was Diamond 3).
- Solo/double/5 group restrictions now apply from Immortality 1 (was Diamond 3).
- Players at Diamond tier 3 and above were previously only able to play as singles, duos and 5s. This restriction now applies from Immortality 1.
- By adding a new tier, we were able to adjust the XP restriction in groups of five and the solo/double group restrictions to apply from the Immortality tier. It will be more understandable if we explain it like this; Since the immortality tier is where the leaderboard starts, we're trying to make players more responsible for their own rankings.
- We've changed the name of the 8th stage reward in Sage's agent contract as it matches the name of the new rank. Sage's new title is "The Eyesight".
- Renaming this title was not an easy decision, but after our conversations, we thought this change was an opportunity to give more meaning to Sage and her personality/concept.
ERRORS
Maps
- Fixed a bug that prevented players from spraying a wall in A Garden on the Haven map.
agents
- Fixed a bug that allowed Jett to equip a weapon during his Like the Wind ability.
- Fixed a bug where agents revealed by Sova's Reconnaissance Arrow or Fade's Haunting abilities would sometimes briefly appear in the wrong location on the minimap.
- Fixed a bug where the scope effect would sometimes disappear when aiming with Chamber's Sharp Style ability.
Game Systems
- Fixed a bug where capturing an Ultimate orb or destroying the Spike at max range would cause the animations in the indicator and progress bar to flicker.
- Fixed the progress bar indicator not updating if the player disconnected and reconnected during the match.
- Fixed a bug where some weapons were displaying the wrong speed equip animation, thus making it look wrong when firing. Some of the cases affected by this bug were:
