The big Minecraft Live event took place on Sunday, October 15, and delivered some major announcements about the future of the popular sandbox game. Here's everything you need to know.
300 million sales
Minecraft has surpassed 300 million units sold, making it the best-selling video game of all time, according to Microsoft. This number is up from 2021 million in 238. Considering Tetris has sold over 500 million copies, Tetris may have something to say to Minecraft's claim to be the best-selling game. However, the 300 million sales figure for Minecraft is still a huge number.
Minecraft CVP Helen Chiang, “15. “As we approach the anniversary, Minecraft remains one of the best-selling games of all time, selling over 300 million copies, a milestone no one could have imagined when we were all placing our first blocks,” he said. “Our incredible community has made Minecraft what it is today and what it will be in the future. We look forward to sharing new Minecraft content and experiences in the coming years
star wars dlc
Star Wars: Path of the Jedi DLC is coming to Minecraft Marketplace on November 7. A trailer released during the event showed off lightsaber combat and Force powers. Some iconic Star Wars characters will also appear in the DLC.
Planet Earth III DLC

The companies previously worked together on the Frozen Planet II DLC for Minecraft. The message of the new Planet Earth DLC in Minecraft is that we are all connected and must work together to look after the planet.
minecraft legends
During the Minecraft Live event announcements, Minecraft Legends lead design director Craig Leigh went over some community-requested changes for the game. These include “the ability to pet animals, special campaign and PVP modes, on-screen controls and UI, light pillars for waypoints, and improved pathfinding.”
Additionally, the next Lost Legend for Legends, “Creeper Clash,” is coming to the game on October 19th for Halloween. Another said, “Snow vs. Snout” is released in December. What's more, frogs are coming to Legends in December, which is great.
Leigh said: “It's been a busy year for the Minecraft Legends team! Following a successful launch in April, we reached out to our amazing community to understand what they enjoyed, what needed improvement, and what we could add to make the game even better. For the last 6 months, the team has focused on greatly improving the core systems and adding brand new features. “We're excited to see the community's reaction to the new content announced on Minecraft Live.” said.
15th Anniversary Plans
Minecraft is celebrating its 2024th anniversary in 15, and Mojang's Lydia Winters has announced "exciting" plans to celebrate the occasion. Keep checking back for more.
Mojang's Kayleen Walters said, “15. As we celebrate our anniversary, Minecraft would like to express our gratitude to our passionate Minecraft community. It is the creativity and dedication of our community that helps transform this world into something extraordinary. We look forward to honoring and celebrating your contributions, stories, and adventures as we kick off this milestone year. Thank you for 15 wonderful years of creating, building and exploring together. Stay tuned for more updates and surprises in 2024!” said.
Minecraft Vanilla Update 1.21
A number of features are coming to the original Minecraft, including “The Crafter” in mid-2024. This allows players to auto-generate, a first in Minecraft vanilla. Also new to Minecraft vanilla in 2024 are trial chambers, which are procedurally generated underground structures for players to overcome, and light-emitting blocks called Copper Bulbs. What's more, Minecraft vanilla adds the game's newest enemy mob, "The Breeze."
“The Breeze moves by jumping and shoots wind energy projectiles that explode on impact, much like Blazes shoot fireballs,” says Mojang. “If it collides with a player or entity, it explodes immediately. These explosions cover a blast radius of several cubic blocks, deal a small amount of damage, and knock back all beings in the area.” said.
Game director Agnes Larsson said: “We are excited to see our community's reaction to the new features announced in Minecraft Live. This update is a worthwhile mix of exciting adventures, combat trials and tinkering – we believe it adds something enjoyable for many different play styles! “In the long term, we want to improve Minecraft for every play style, and we look forward to continuing to build update 1.21 with our community.”
These were the most important announcements that took place during the Minecraft Live 2023 event.
