Today, in a developer livestream, the team at EA Motive Studio announced that a remake of 2008's most popular survival horror game will launch on January 27, while also showing off the work being done for the game.
Although there were a few technical glitches during the live broadcast, the focus was mainly on the Dead Space remake version. The dev team outlined three pillars that support the game's uniquely spooky look and feel:
Horror storytelling: Dead Space is obviously set in space, but it's not a sci-fi story with visuals in the driver's seat, it's all spooky stuff.
Dip: The developers emphasized that their goal is to make players fear what is in front of them.
An inhabited world: From plasma cutters to health tanks, every object tells a story and has a meaning.
The livestream also touched on the technical process of rebuilding a Dead Space game from scratch. There were before and after shots of many items, updates to Isaac's spacesuit, and short clips of Isaac navigating the updated levels. At the end of the livestream, the team brought together all the previously highlighted visual pillars and concepts in a short in-game demo.
This is the third presentation on the development of the Dead Space remake version. A few months ago, EA Motive held a similar livestream focused on the game's audio, and before that, fans were given their first look at the remake. With the release date set for January 27, EA also announced that fans will reveal the full details of the game later this year.
