Lords of the Fallen: How to Upgrade Weapons? Upgrading weapons is crucial to overcoming challenges in Lords of the Fallen, and here's how to do it.
Lords of the trapsTalent alone will not be enough to defeat the ever-increasing dangers in . To defeat the armies of evil, players will need to equip themselves with weapons sharp enough to cut through the darkness itself.
Like most Soulsike games, Lords of the Fallen features a weapon upgrade mechanic that makes even the poorest weapon effective in later stages. This is a core mechanic that anyone who wants to beat this game will need to unlock, but it's possible for it to be completely overlooked if players are rushing through the maps.
To upgrade their equipment, players must first find the right NPC for the job. The NPC in question is Gerlinde the Blacksmith, who can be found relatively early on.
After defeating the Pieta and making your way through the game's hub area, players will eventually find themselves traversing the cliffs leading to Pilgrim's Perch. Go to Blind Agatha's Cloak, go through the cave tunnels to reach the edge of the cliff, and find the elevator back to the checkpoint.
From the elevator, players must defeat the shield-bearing knight beneath Blind Agatha's Vestige and retrieve the key he drops. He must then find Gerlinde in the same pit, exhaust her dialogue options, and finally give her the key. After that, players will find him in the blacksmith shop of Skyrest Bridge. Talk to him about your gun concerns.
To upgrade weapons, players will need to spend Vigor and Deralium, the size of which determines how much an item can be upgraded:
- Small Deralium Fragment: +3
- Regular Deralium Nuggets: +5
- Large Deralium Shards: +9
- Deralium Chunk: +10
Unlike other games in the subgenre, the boss weapons here don't require some sort of special upgrade material. They all use the same Deralium parts listed above, but such weapons can only be upgraded to +5.
Armor sets in Lords of the Fallen cannot be upgraded, but shields can. Upgrading a shield will increase its defensive power against all damage. Note that shields have different base values. Wooden bucklers will not have the same defensive properties as a metal tower shield, but will be lighter in comparison and allow for more agile movements.
