The New Ban System update to Twitch Mods introduces a new ban system for improved community safety. You will be able to follow all your bans. One of the biggest problems with any online streaming platform is the constant toxicity and harassment towards streamers and their communities. Whether in chat, direct messages, or in-game, popular streamers have always had to rely on powerful moderation tools to keep themselves safe and maintain a positive environment when they go live.
Luckily, Twitch developers are adding a new moderation feature on September 14th, which will help you keep certain people private while interacting with your viewers and streaming on a daily basis.
Following some community feedback, Twitch will allow streamers to share moderator comments of their channel so they can show why any user was banned. This way, other channels can be made aware of any toxic community members if they are jumping through similar channels in the same circles.
Another tool that Twitch has prepared for streamers is the addition of Shield Mode to the Mod View, offering streamers and their mods an instant solution when they cannot fully control active harassment in their chats.
It can instantly enable a multitude of different settings, including Shield Mode, Follower or Sub Chat Only, no first time chat mode, verification required, and more. This setting is great for any streamer who is suddenly inundated with multiple members spewing hate speech or other unwanted content into the chat. Once Shield Mode is disabled, all settings will return to normal.
Twitch is adding several ways to create a safer place for creators, especially after the recent update that allowed streamers to completely ban someone from watching their streams. Although affected users can log out and view the broadcast, they must take multiple extra steps to re-engage in the chat.
As a result, publishing is slowly becoming a better and safer place for creators and their communities.
