After winning the organization's first LCS title this summer, 100 Thieves returns to the League of Legends Worlds 2018 stage today after its international debut in 2021.
However, 100 Thieves' first opponent in Iceland, EDward Gaming, took a 28-minute loss to the NA representatives.
Up until this point, every match in the Worlds 2021 group stage has been pretty one-sided. Many expected this game to be similar, as EDG is the biggest favorite in today's match. And since the Chinese team smashed 100 Thieves, these experts were right to think so.
North American representatives held their ground in the first 10 minutes of the engagement. But then, jungler Jiejie and mid laner Scout's unique aggression began to tip the game in EDG's favor.
As time passed, LPL champions targeted more and more, destroying 100T's towers and killing several dragons. Reapered's players looked for an opportunity to change the tide of the match and tried to do so around the 25th minute. But they failed.
This was just the beginning of the rivalry in Group B of the Worlds 2021 group stage. T1 scored a dominant victory over DetonatioN FocusMe earlier today. This is not surprising, however, as many expected the Korean and Chinese sides to lead this group.
The group will be at the top tomorrow after T1's 6am CT match with EDG. You can watch the entire Worlds 2021 tournament on Riot Games' Twitch channel.
