Field Loadouts return for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and are as powerful as ever. There are some new additions and returning favorites in this year's game, and I'd say they all have their place. Many are best used in certain situations, but a select few are just fine. In this guide, We will go over all MW3 Field Equipment.
All Available Field Equipment for Modern Warfare 3
Field Equipment, once called Field Upgrades, are deliverable in-game items that give you a temporary advantage over your enemies. They're all good and all can be used in every game mode, but some prefer objective modes over others. Newer add-ons tend to be more niche than older ones, but they can all make your opponent's life hell.
Comm Scrambler
As the name suggests, the Comm Scrambler disables enemy communications within its radius, allowing them to use dashes or Makes it impossible to see your allies on the minimap. It doesn't do anything to stop the in-game announcer or your team shoutouts, or intrude on your Discord call to prevent you from talking to your friends. Although sometimes you may want it that way.
tactical insertion
This equipment is back and does what it always does: Allows you to respawn in a chosen location. The difference this time is that instead of being something you always respawn from, Tactical Insertion has a hefty cooldown and if you want to respawn on it, you do it on a timer, not instantly. You can see the area immediately around the attachment, which not only prevents you from rejoining the fight with people looking directly at you, but also gives your enemies a little more time to find it.
med box
Like Med box, Armor and Ammo Boxesi grants your teammates access to a limited amount of additional materials. These include Stims for quick health regeneration and Battle Rage for the same and some additional benefits. It can even instantly regenerate your health, but it's not available in the current beta, so we can't be sure.
Ammunition Box
Need bullets but don't have Scavenger Gloves? Out of grenades and no Demolition Vest? Ammunition Box is here for you. Charging is relatively fast and Provides you and nearby teammates with three full clips and a new belt of lethal and tactical equipment. Even though that's all it does, there isn't a situation where this doesn't help.
ACS
Automated Computer Spike is an objective gamer's dream. Automatically captures points (slower than a player, but still) allows you to play Domination without worrying too much about random teammates not doing their random things. It also hacks all enemy equipment within a short radius, turning mines and other fixed lethal options against their owners for a short period of time.
Deployable Cover
Another Field Upgrade that “does what it says on the tin” Deployable Cover gives you a small but still essential piece of hard cover wherever you want it. It's easy to jump over and move around, but if used wisely you can take out at least a few enemies.
Portable Radar
If you need a way to track enemies in a specific area despite UAV-spam, Portable Radar delivers a circular pulse every few seconds that marks enemies not wearing Ghosts. It can operate on its own or function as an addition to a UAV, as Killstreak's scan and Radar's pulse are not interconnected.
Smoke Airdrop
If you need to block line of sight on a map, Smoke Airdrop is the field upgrade for you. Once you determine where you want it to arrive, it deploys a line of drones dropping smoke bombs. The smoke is unfortunately not as strong as in previous games. There are two problems I can prove. For one, it's still possible to see an enemy's nametag through the smoke, an issue that's gotten me killed more times than I'd like to admit. The other problem is server-side smokes, or smokes that are visible to you but not to your enemy, or vice versa. I don't know what's causing this problem, but that's one reason I don't use smoke.
Trophy System
This decades-old deployable weapon is now as reliable as ever. Capable of destroying up to three pieces of lethal and tactical equipment within a given radius, the Trophy System is best deployed on or near a target. It can eliminate even larger threats, but may use two or all of its payload to do so. I haven't tested it against incoming killstreak missiles, but it has worked on them in the past.
Inflatable Decoy
Yes, you can make balloons yourself in Modern Warfare 3. Inflatable Decoy, Creates a generic soldier after placing and activating it. This type of distraction will only work once in any given situation, but it could save your life.
Heartbeat Sensor
As in previous games, Heartbeat Sensor gives a rough location of where an enemy is in a 160-degree arc in front of you. They'll appear as a big green dot on the tablet you pull out, so while they're useful for checking to see if anyone is camping around the next corner, there are better options all around.
Tactical Camera
Like the Heartbeat Sensor, the Tactical Camera is an early warning system. Throw it onto a surface and let it scan the nearby area, or if left uncontrolled it will notify you of enemies with a distinctive sound. My issue with this thing is that the audio tends to get buried under all the other noise during the match, and if you're spending your time looking at the camera you're not contributing much to the team.
DDOS
It's my personal favorite for two reasons. First, When used, DDOS creates a pulse around you that disables enemy equipment and disrupts enemy minimaps. Second, I use scorestreaks, which means fast-charging DDOS adds an almost guaranteed 30-60 points to my next streak if I use it where I know enemies or their equipment will be. Even though it's obvious you're in the area, it's also fun to deal with people.
Recon Drone
Recon Drone, which is essentially a mobile version of the Tactical Camera It allows you to survey the battlefield while also marking the general location of enemies for your team.. When used in a teamwork environment, this information can change the course of a match. Or at least the next thirty seconds.
Dead Silence
Like the classic Perk that gives the upgrade its name, Dead Silence also silences your footsteps and in MW3 it also gives you Ghost. Considering that you can equip both Ghost and Covert Sneakers for the same effect, what purpose might you think this upgrade serves? Simple: now you can use other perks instead and still have their effects for part of the match.
Loadout Drop
I'd be surprised if the Loadout Drop can stay in your Field Upgrade slot in Warzone. Using this summons a chest that allows you to swap gear and replenish your ammo reserves without having to respawn. Like the Care Package series, it arrives via air, so anyone will see it coming from a mile away, but it can be useful on larger maps or in congested situations.
Suppression Mine
Suppression Mine, returning from MW2 (2022), When triggered, emits a local disruptor field that staggers your enemy and slows their movement. Place this thing in a tight space in a high-traffic area and you'll cause tremendous traffic, even if momentarily. Also, you won't make any friends.
Anti-armor Rounds
As the name suggests, Anti-armor Rounds are useful against all targets wearing armor. This includes vehicles, equipment, and of course armor plates. It's likely to be more useful in Warzone, but it could also be useful in Ground War and Modern Warfare Zombies.
That's all the Field Equipment you'll get while playing Modern Warfare 3. The options are many, and while not all of them are as immediately useful as others, each has its place.
