With Dead Island 2 Best Weapons, these are the best weapons to take on hordes of zombies and smash the dead.
You will kill thousands of zombies during your time in Dead Island 2's Hell-A. And like any good craftsman, you will need the best tools for the job. That's why we've compiled a list of the best tools of destruction you'll encounter in your encounters.
They are ranked in order of overall utility, power, ease of use, and feel. Of course, you may think that other weapons are more suited to your style, but we recommend trying these monsters.
One-Handed Sword: Katana and Swords
The sword will likely be one of your favorite Dead Island 2 Best Weapons early in the game. Especially since it will be one of the first real weapons you acquire. They're fast, do pretty good damage, and have good range. They are your all-purpose weapons. They would rank higher, but have slightly more range and speed than hammers, but their lack of strength makes them worse for dealing with other, more resistant enemies where the hammer can work quickly.
Still, they feel great and are probably cool enough to earn a spot in most Hunters' weapon arsenals. With the right mods, a motivated Hunter can definitely use swords as their primary weapon. They are also quite suitable for skinning zombies.
Two-Handed Weapons: Big Clubs, Sledge Hammers, Giant Keys
These heavy, two-handed weapons feel slow, unwieldy, and a bit unwieldy in general. It definitely takes some getting used to to get the most out of these massive demolition tools. However, in return for their incompetence, you are given something that packs a terrific punch.
There are certain types of enemies that work much better than any other weapon. A good two-handed weapon will surely destroy the Slobbers, one of the most annoying zombies to fight in the game. They can also be extremely effective at taking care of crowds, as they have wide and far-reaching attacks. It just takes getting used to early swinging. This is a weapon that should be in every Hunter's arsenal.
Dead Island 2 Best Weapons Shotguns
Shotguns are powerful weapons and great for clearing zombies. You can drop more than a notch by firing full bullets at even the heaviest zombies. They are also great for shredding. While all weapons are pretty good for ripping off limbs, the shotgun doesn't require a lot of hit.
Unfortunately, you have to get a little closer to get the maximum effect. And at this point, you can usually get a similar effect with a fully charged Critical Strike with most of your heavy melee weapons. And they don't need to be refilled. That doesn't mean the Shotgun is a bad weapon! However, it has some limitations.
One-Handed Weapons: Mallets, Hammers, Clubs, and Maces
These babies are one of the best middle ground options in the game. Despite their small form factor, they make a big impact. These weapons bear many similarities to one-handed swords. However, they tend to trade a small amount of range for damage and potency. To be honest, we think this exchange was more than worth it.
They can't quite replace a two-handed bat in matches where you want to make the most impact possible, but they are quite effective in most matches. For most of the game, the one-handed stick was one of our weapons of choice. It's hard to argue with the balance of power and speed.
Dead Island 2 Best Weapons Daggers and Knives
Of course, large, powerful weapons will always have an important place in your arsenal, but dagger-class weapons can be extremely formidable. They have very little power, but are extremely fast, which means they can deal tremendous damage in a short time. When the crushers arrive, you will need to have at least one of them with you at all times.
It's worth noting that the Switness mod, which makes weapons faster at the expense of strength, is a perfect fit for these weapons because they have very little strength in the first place. We think their range and lack of hits make them a little worse when dealing with large groups (though they'll do in a pinch), but they're great at dealing damage one-on-one. Their quickness also makes them great for creating status effects. You need at least one in your Arena.
Pistols, Machine Guns and Assault Rifles
That's right, we put all other weapons in one category. You will unlock these weapons in one part of the game after completing the Justifiable Zombicide quest. And yes, these weapons are quite powerful. Especially for dealing with Screamer and Bloater type zombies. But their dependence on ammo means you'll be constantly replacing them.
Among all weapons, single-shot rifles are the best as they bring this power. They are basically like any other weapon, but significantly more powerful. Most tough zombies melt away when hit with one of these. Of course they're much slower, but when you destroy everything in a shot or two, speed isn't that important.
Spears, Spears and Pole Saws
Of all the weapons in the game, a spear-type weapon is a pretty simple requirement. There are certainly certain types of zombies that are easier to deal with with a different weapon, but spears can deal with more hideous zombie types than most weapons.
If a zombie is on fire, they can attack them from far enough away that they will not be harmed. What about runners? The spear can quickly nudge them when they charge, and stop their attack before it even has a chance to begin. Critical Strike to the head also loops in on itself as it stuns zombies. You won't be using it for Smashers or Slobbers, but it's a great tool for dealing with most other types of zombies.
Brass Knuckles, Knuckles, Knives Knuckles
Wow, there's nothing more fun than diving into the crowd and throwing punches. These weapons are dazzlingly fast. Add a speed mod to these bad boys and you can turn into a whirlwind of punches. The pure damage potential of these boxer killing tools is simply absurd.
Obviously, they require you to get up close and personal, and that has some downsides, but the speed with which you can melt a health bar with punch-based weapons is too good not to sing their praises here. Add a mod that gives them a bleeding effect and watch a Crusher turn into a pile of hamburgers in seconds.
Dead Island 2 Best Weapons Bo Items
The Bo Staff is a typical martial artist tool, but in your hands it will transform into a more brutal stick to crush skulls. The Staff of Bo, as we've seen, is a thing of its own. It has the same Critical Attack as a spear, but its light attack is completely different from spear-type weapons, and we think it feels like a fundamentally different weapon.
This is another versatile weapon for the Dead Island 2 Best Weapons list. Not as effective as blunt one-handed weapons. However, it makes up for it by having a surprisingly fast light attack and a shockingly sharp Critical Attack. All in all, the Bo Staff is an incredible weapon that's both great for dealing with crowds up close and personal, and great for dealing with enemies you'd probably prefer not to get too close to. This makes it an enormously versatile weapon. In fact, we think it's probably the most versatile weapon in the game.
