Diablo 4 Rogue Special Specializations Guide
When you reach level 4 in Diablo 15, you first gain access to the Rogue's Specialization system. However, this is the leveling requirement in the beta, so the full game may change the leveling process. At level 15 you will be able to embark on a quest called “True Potential” that will allow you to use your first Specialization.
After level 15, you will unlock your next Specialization at level 20 and the third at level 30. You'll only be able to use two of the three Specializations for Rogue, as the maximum level in Beta is 25. To unlock each Specialization, you must complete a new quest. Also, future missions for Rogue will depend on the specific Specialization that needs to be completed.
Below you can see in more detail what these three Specializations are and how they work.
Combined Points – This is the first Specialization you will unlock after completing the True Potential quest. Combined Points add a new attack meter that fills up as you perform basic attacks. Each basic attack performed will now add Combo Points up to three times. You can see how many Combo Points you currently have active by looking above your skill bar (yellow icons). With these Combined Points, Basic Skills can consume points and in turn have an additional effect that gives them additional strength.
Insight – The second Specialization you unlock, Insight, allows you to attack certain marked enemies. When you attack these enemies, you fill your Insight gauge just as you fill your Mana gauge. When the Insight gauge is full, you can release it to gain unlimited energy for four seconds.
Preparation - This Specialization is currently not available in Diablo 4 beta, so we're not sure if it's available yet. Some fans speculated that this would have something to do with World of Warcraft-like skill cooldowns, but at the time of writing, nothing is official.
Players can only have one Specialization at a time in Diablo 4. However, if they are fast enough in UI navigation, players can switch between different Specializations throughout the battle. For the most part, however, there will be a Specialization suited to a particular build.
Rogue Imbue system
The last unique element of the Rogue class in Diablo 4 is the Imbue system. Rogues have a full branch of the skill tree dedicated to this system. There are three different types of Imbue: Frost, Shadow and Poison.
When players choose one of these three Placement skills, they will add such damage to the skill they will use later (provided the skill can be instilled). So, for example, if you are using the Rain of Arrows skill and you want those arrows to be poisonous, you would use the Poison Spill skill and then select the Rain of Arrows skill. Your Rain of Arrows will now deal poison damage to every enemy they touch. Specifically when it comes to poison, this will also apply damage over time (DoT) to enemies, making them easier to eliminate. You can see if a skill can be instilled by looking at the skill tree menu in Diablo 4.
Normally, you only want one of the Import skills active on your skill bar at a time, as the other five slots are better suited for offensive and defensive maneuvers. However, if you understand that a fight requires a certain elemental damage to weaken an enemy, then you can easily swap one Imbuement skill for another.
Fraudulent Placement Skills
- Frost Imbuement - Charge your weapons with cold energies. Your next 2 Inoculation Skills deal Cold damage and cool enemies by 25% per hit.
- Shadow Imbuement - Fill your weapons with inflamed shadows. Your next 2 Castables deal shadow damage and affect enemies for six seconds. Infected enemies explode when they die, dealing 40% damage to all nearby enemies.
- Poison Imbuement - Fills your weapons with deadly poison. Your next 2 Vaccinable skills deal poison damage and inflict poison for five seconds.
From these three Imbuement skills, you must choose the most suitable for your build. However, since there are only a handful of other skills that can be instilled, you may want to check out our Rogue skills guide before deciding which Recharge skill to use. If you have a build full of non-placeable skills, the Refill skill is almost worthless in Diablo 4.
