Dota 2 Patch 7.35 Valve released one of the biggest game updates of 2023 during a major tournament. Patch 7.35 introduced Frostivus to Dota 2, bringing some necessary buffs and nerfs that will determine the biggest winners and losers of the coming months.
After every major Dota 2 match, the meta of the game changes. The change in popularity rankings depends on the magnitude of these changes. Some updates may be meta-defining, while others may be unimpressive and minor.
I dug into STRATZ.com's meta trend data for heroes to find the biggest winners and losers of Dota 2 patch 7.35. Due to balance changes, some heroes have improved and others have collapsed, but these results may change over time as professional players discover the potential of other heroes.
Winners of Dota 2 patch 7.35
At the time of this writing, Leshrac, Timbersaw, and Death Prophet are the three biggest winners of Dota 2 patch 7.35.
leshrac
Leshrac's spell set has received minor buffs, but the base items he builds on have become better for the hero.
Bloodstone now provides a +75 area of effect increase, while Veil of Discord is also part of Shiva's Guard. With changes to these items, Leshrac emerges as the biggest winner so far, while other spellcasters may also rise and gain popularity.
At the time of this writing, Leshrac's win rate has increased from 7.35 percent to 47,6 percent after 58,6 went live.
timbersaw
Timbersaw is another hero who likes to build Bloodstone, Veil of Discord, and Shiva's Guard. The changes these items received also positively affected Timbersaw's win rate, but the tree enemy also received some significant buffs.
With base STR and STR gain buffs, Timbersaw has become more durable in the laning phase. Reactive Armor is also stronger, and it will be easier for Timbersaw to stack up, as each hero attack now increases his count to three.
As a result, Timbersaw has jumped from a 45,4 percent win rate and now has a 54,2 percent win rate.
Death prophet
Yes, the winners of 7.35 definitely follow a pattern. The Death Prophet also benefited from the Bloodstone, Veil of Discord, and Shiva's Guardian changes.
The Death Prophet received some buffs that increase his grappling potential. While the Silence ability has received a movement slowing effect, the level 20 ability has also been changed to support this new change.
After patch 7.35, Death Prophet returned from a 46,5 win rate to a 51,6 percent win rate.
Dota 2 7.35 patch losers
When it's time for new faces to shine, others may need to step back. Currently, the biggest losers of Dota 2 patch 7.35 are Muerta, Phantom Assassin, and Spectre, three heroes that were hugely popular during TI 2023.
Dead
phantom assassin
Muerta lost one of her biggest lane advantages in Dota 2 patch 7.35. Gunslinger no longer prioritizes heroes and is now a replaceable ability. This puts Muerta's passive ability on a strange path. Due to the number of creeps in the laning phase, it can no longer be used as a harassment tool and is also not a reliable lane pushing ability.
Madman of the Veil also received an end-game nerf with damage reduction, but Muerta's weaker lane was enough to drop her 50,9 win rate to 46,7 percent.
Regardless of the patch, Phantom Assassin has always been one of the most reliable carries in Dota 2, especially in ranked matches. However, PA lost an important survival tool that depended on Phantom Strike.
With Phantom Strike no longer providing health support, PA's win rate dropped from barely 50 percent to 44,4 percent.
Spectre
Specter ranked high in the safe lane along with Chaos Knight at TI 2023. Spectre's kit has also been slowly weakened, and the latest changes may have been the last straw for the hero.
Spectre's base health regen reduced by half. In addition, Dispersion's minimum radius has been reduced and Reality has also become less versatile. The popular level 10 ability with a five attribute bonus is no longer available, meaning Specter's lane is much weaker at 7.35.
Given the rise of spellcasters, the Spectre's illusions are less reliable than before, deeply impacting his endgame potential. When all of this came together, Spectre's win rate of 55,6 dropped to 51,7 percent.
