As part of its latest earnings briefing, Sony announced that 2018's God of War game has sold more than 23 million copies worldwide. This shows that the game has broken the previous sales record of 2021 million units as of August 19,5, and new sales have increased with the final release of the game on PC. Sony added that it expects its sequel, God of War: Ragnarok, to perform similarly after its release this month.
It's worth noting that God of War's performance comes from a number of platform sales (PS4, PS5 and PC), which is on par with some of Sony's most successful titles. Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man franchise has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide as of May 2022, 33, and that number has continued to rise since the 2018 game's PC release. With Miles Morales scheduled to hit PC on November 18, we expect these numbers to rise even further.

As for other Sony news, the home of PlayStation had an interesting fiscal quarter. PS5 sales have now reached 2022 million units shipped as of the second quarter of fiscal 25, and PS Plus memberships are down compared to last year's pandemic peaks. While PS Plus has fewer members, the subscription service makes more money from its user base with more expensive membership options. (2018 God of War was free for PS Plus subscribers.)
As festive season approaches, Sony has a potential record-breaking project with God of War: Ragnarok on November 9th, ending Kratos' Scandinavian saga.
