How to get Bolt Cutters while playing Alan Wake 2?
You will obtain the Bolt Cutters item in Alan Wake 2 during Return 5 – Old Gods, where Saga Anderson is playable. We don't want to spoil all the important details, but here's a quick summary:
- Return 4 – No Chance and Return 5 – Old Gods both take place in Bright Falls. These take you to the western part of town and eventually you arrive at Valhalla Retirement Home.
- While chatting with the elderly, you will notice that something is wrong. The main objective requires you to open a portal to Overlap in this area.
- After you pick up the Anger's Remorse record and play it on the jukebox, a portal will appear over the pond in the courtyard.
When you're ready, step into the portal to find yourself in a different sewer/drowning themed Overlap area. Like other Overlap areas, this area is like a loop where you go through the same corridors and feel lost.
You'll soon reach a section with a lever that turns on the light. This action also reveals another room you can enter. Check the containers and drawers here to get the Tool Cabinet Key. Can be used to unlock the cabinet containing the Bolt Cutters item. All that's left is to advance to the next room in the Overlap, where a brutal Taken boss awaits.
Now that you have Bolt Cutters in Alan Wake 2, you can collect the remaining collectibles in Saga's arc. This tool is the only tool that can open chain locks that prevent you from reaching certain areas. For example, there are Cult Stash located behind barred doors. Oh, and remember the Rental Cabins area in Cauldron Lake you saw at the beginning of the game?
