Overwatch 2's release earlier this month wasn't entirely foolproof, but the game is trying to quickly fix issues, and in less than 2 weeks, the game managed to hit a major new player milestone. Blizzard announced that the free-to-play shooter reached 10 million players in 25 days. The studio tweeted to celebrate the player count.
Blizzard said, “Thank you to the 2 million players who have now jumped into Overwatch 25 with us.” said.

In a press release, Blizzard said that Overwatch 2's daily player base is nearly evenly spread across the Americas, EMEA and Asia regions, nearly three times the previous daily player peak numbers for the original Overwatch.
Blizzard also noted that the new hero Kiriko has already proven popular with Overwatch 2 players, with his Kitsune Rush skill used more than 2 million times in the first week.
Moreover, Blizzard announced that they will be handing out special bonuses to players for their "permanent support" of gameplay issues since the release of Overwatch 2. Anyone who logs in from October 25 to the end of Season 1 will receive the new Cursed Captain Reaper legendary skin and Health Pack weapon talisman. Additionally, they will receive double the XP bonus over the weekend, including the following dates:
- It will start on October 21 at 21:00 and end on October 24 at 21:00.
- It will start on October 28 at 21:00 and end on October 31 at 21:00.
- It will start on 24 November at 21:00 and end on 28 November at 21:00.
