playing Valorant real names of agents Have you ever thought about what it could be? Riot Games began expanding the VALORANT universe in 2022. We learned more about our favorite agents and maps. Additionally, we continue to introduce new elements into the complex puzzle of the first-person attack (FPS) game.
VALORANT, like similar games, gives each agent a codename or callsign. Most are short and can be memorized. Still, this is because it's necessary for both the lore and the practical use of the game. Names can be easily called out throughout the match to help players easily direct their teammates where to look on a map.
As seen in VALORANT's cinematics and extended lore, these call signs are also useful for disguising the true identity of agents in the protocol.
When the game was released in 2020, players knew nothing about the agents other than voiceovers and some clues to their personalities that could only be seen in the cinematics. After the agent files were released (the tools Fade uses to blackmail their VALORANT counterparts), we finally know the real names of nearly every agent. Of course, with such a diverse cast of characters, there are a few notable exceptions.
While the list below is not in full VALORANT agent release order, it contains information about the real names of the agents we know so far.
VALORANT: Agents' Real Names and Meanings
BrimstoneLiam Byrne
Brimstone is the charismatic American leader of VALORANT. He is the oldest agent of the VALORANT Protocol. He also previously worked as a firefighter and later became a soldier. Given Brimstone's personality, players could expect a name with a "dad" image. We know that the name Liam means "guardian" or "guardian." This fits Brimstone's role in VALORANT perfectly.
Viper — Sabine Callas
Players already knew Viper's name before the agent files were released. There is a voiceover in the game. Omen calls her by her real name, Sabine. Viper gets angry in response and tells him not to call her that again. Viper's name is very unique and highlights a different side of it.
Sage — Lingying Wei / 魏玲瑩
Sage is VALORANT's most popular healer. Also referred to as "China's stronghold" in the agent description, Sage trained in a monastery before joining the VALORANT Protocol. He is a Radiant (not human). She also has the power to summon slow orbs and walls by summoning the Radianiti around she.
In English, it means "wise, wise, dignified". These meanings may be compatible with Sage's abilities and character.
Phoenix—Jamie Adeyemi
Phoenix is a stylish duelist and the name Jamie fits his mood perfectly. The surname Adeyemi is of Yoruba origin and indicates Phoenix's African origin. The agent name, which is full of self-confidence, also suits him well. We wonder if Phoenix chose his call name himself?
Phoenix's name refers to the phoenix. The Phoenix is a bird reborn from the ashes in mythology. This may be a reflection of Phoenix's character, as he always stands up after battle and continues to fight.
Jett — Sunwoo Han / 한선우
Jett hails from South Korea and worked as a chef at a restaurant in Seoul before joining the VALORANT protocol. Known for his somewhat toxic demeanor and angry temper, Jett seems like a dashing name. In South Korea, Sunwoo is a more common name for boys rather than girls.
Jett's name means "jet of water" in Korean. This may be a reference to his quick and agile movements. Jett is one of the fastest agents in the game and has the ability to move through the air and shoot enemies from behind.
Sova — Sasha Novikov / Саша Новиков
Sova's agent file lists her name as Sasha Novikov. But as many players pointed out when her file was released, Sasha is a common nickname or abbreviation of the name Alexander. Therefore, it is possible that Sova's real full name is actually Alexander or Aleksander Novikov.
Another interesting fact about sova is that the agent name sova or сова means "owl" in Russian. This pairs perfectly with the entire agent design, including the Owl Drone ability.
Raze — Tayane Alves
Raze hails from the city of Salvador in the Brazilian state of Bahia. It is located north of major cities such as Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The name of the agent was chosen to reflect the meaning of the word "raze" in English. This word is a verb meaning to raze a building to the ground. Raze is called “Tatà” by his close friends. This nickname is due to the fact that her real name is Tayane.
Raze's real name is Tayane Alves. Tayane means "strong" in Portuguese. This may be a reflection of Raze's personality and abilities.
Reyna — Zyanya Mandrogon
Reyna's real name is Zyanya Mandrogón and she hails from Mexico. The name Zyanya belongs to the Aztecs. We don't know much about Reyna's exact origins, but we do know quite a bit about her past and current mission. Reyna is known as an arrogant and somewhat evil character. She is also the instigator of a great war between Radiants and humans. Despite this, Reyna cares a lot for Radiants, and many of her voiceovers refer to her "city", possibly a reference to some sort of sanctuary where she keeps other Radiants safe. It is not yet clear whether such a place of refuge exists in Mexico.
The name Zyanya means "sunrise" or "daylight" in Aztecs. This is a meaning that aligns with Reyna's abilities and character. Reyna is as bright and powerful as daylight and uses the light of day to defeat her enemies.
Cypher — Amir El Amari / أمير العماري
It's kind of strange that Fade was able to find Cypher's full real name for his file in the first place. Cypher is canonically known as a mysterious agent (perhaps not as much as Omen). He also hacks and spies on other people. We thought that such a prolific hacker would want to protect his identity a little more. However, Fade ruined the plans.
Amir means "prince" in Arabic. This name is in line with Cypher's abilities and character. Cypher uses his abilities to control and manipulate his enemies. This means that he acts like a monarch.
Breach — Erik Torsten
Breach's family in Sweden The Torsten family is known in VALORANT's fiction as a crime-related family. But Breach was born without arms, which made him feel like an outcast in his own family. Even when he participated in criminal activities, he was not treated the same as he was. Finally freed from the role of "little Plum", Breach is now a formidable opponent.
Erik means "manager" in Swedish. This name is in line with Breach's abilities and character. Breach controls his enemies using his abilities and also directs them. This means that he acts like a manager.
Killjoy — Klara Böringer
Killjoy's name is in German and for a long time most VALORANT players knew it from the agent description. However, we know from the agent file and other fictional elements that his parents are named Emil and Zehra. This has led to some speculation that although Killjoy's name is German and she grew up in Germany, her mother may have been from the Middle East or North Africa, as the name Zehra is common in those areas. It is likely that Killjoy's father was ethnically German, but his mother was not.
The name “Klara” means “bright” or “bright”. This name is in keeping with Killjoy's intelligence and creativity. The name “Böhringer” means “from Böhmen”. This name reflects Killjoy's German origins.
Chamber—Vincent Fabron
No one will forget Chamber is French, with his accent and style, but the name Vincent Fabron adds a cherry on top of a cherry. In fact, Chamber's expertise in weapons can be partially attributed to his time in the French army. The name Vincent comes from the Latin word vincere, meaning "conquest".
Skye—Kirra Foster
Skye is known as an environmental activist, especially in her hometown of New South Wales, Australia. The agent name, Skye, is a clear reference to nature.
Kirra means "leaf" or "dancing leaf" in the Yugambeh language. The name contains a reference to Skye's love and respect for nature.
The fact that Skye's last name is Foster also reflects her family background. Foster means "caretaker" or "protector" in English. This reflects Skye's commitment to protecting the environment and keeping it safe for future generations.
Neon — Tala Nicole Dimaapi Valdez
Neon was born in Manila and grew up here with his family. His father was a scientist and his mother was a police officer. His father actually developed the lightning rod he wore to help him control his electrical powers.
- Tala: It is a name of Arabic origin. It means "star".
- Nicole is a name of Greek origin. It means "victory".
- Dimaapi is a name of Philippine origin. It means "dear".
- Valdez: A surname of Spanish origin. It means "from Valdes".
The combination of these names means “A radiant, victorious, beloved woman like a star”.
Astra — Efia Danso
Astra's surname, Danso, is a Ghanaian surname of Akan origin. Astra hails from Accra and is the only agent on the current roster with ties to the Astral Guardians. This makes him almost stronger than Radiants because he can somehow channel his abilities on this "higher plane".
Efia is an Akan name meaning "gold". This name represents beauty, wealth and abundance.
Yoru — Ryo Kiritani / 桐谷諒
Yoru has a very aggressive and arrogant disposition in fiction. We also know that they have connections with the cities of both Tokyo and Yokohama, as well as “Ito Holding”, which has not been mentioned anywhere else in Valorant's lore so far. Yoru is known to be a fictional descendant of Japanese samurai and tries to connect with them by opening dimensional rifts. Ryo, the meaning of his name is "dragon".
Harbor — Varun Batra / वरुण बत्रा
Harbor's name, Varun, is a Hindi name meaning "water god". This is a pretty apt name for an agent with walls of water. Harbor is a historian specializing in antiquities. Although it was discovered in Mumbai by the VALORANT protocol, we do not know its real hometown. We only know that it is "on the coast of India".
Fade — Hazal Eyletmez
Fade is an agent who makes it to the list of other mystery agents. It lurks in the shadows, but still not as much as Omen. We don't know much about his personality. We only know that her abilities include a nightmare theme.
The name Hazal is of Turkish origin and means "leaves of trees that dry and fall". In addition, this name represents the beauty and sadness of autumn.
Gekko — Mateo Armendáriz De la Fuente
Joins from the United States, such as Gekko, Brimstone, and Vipe. Gekko, who is from Los Angeles, is of Hispanic descent and his parents immigrated to the United States. She can speak both English and Spanish, as can be seen in the trailer for She and some of the dialogues she shares with Reyna. Although his full name is Mateo, he is sometimes known as "Teo".
Mateo is a name of Spanish origin and means "gift of God". By the way, this name is in Hebrew as “Matthew” and means the same thing.
Deadlock—Iselin
Deadlock is the newest agent to join VALORANT. This cold-blooded soldier hails from Norway. He was first recruited by other agents after a difficult mission in which he lost his arm by a radianite-transformed bear. This unpleasant experience is why Gekko is particularly condescending towards his little creature friend, Wingman.
KAY/O — None
KAY/O is a robot, so unfortunately he doesn't have a legal first or last name.
Omen — Unreleased
Omen has used many names and is referred to by various different names by other agents in the game and in different aspects of lore. Names like Fred, John or Yohan have popped up but we don't know what his real name is.
VALORANT: We've come to the end of the Agents' Real Names list. We will update our article when we find more information about Omen in particular.
