Chapter Seven, Part Three is coming to live servers with the VALORANT 7.09 Patch Notes, and expect all the new content it brings, as well as a number of changes to existing agents and weapons.
Patch 31, set to release on October 7.09, will nerf a controversial weapon for balance, buff Cypher's underwhelming traps, and introduce changes to some agents' furry companions to validate the Cypher buff. The update also marks the entry into competition of the game's seventh duelist agent, Iso, and the usual new content that comes with a new Act.
Here are the full patch notes for VALORANT Patch 7.09.
What's in VALORANT's Patch 7.09?
iso here
After a long wait, a new duelist has finally joined VALORANT and is designed to stop enemies in their tracks. Iso is equipped with a bullet-bending wall and a molecular ability designed to defragment enemies hit, and can summon an interdimensional one-on-one arena as his ultimate.
Of note, Iso's signature ability relates to precision weapon play that rewards him with invulnerability. Once you download and install the patch you will be able to unlock the Iso. You can use 8.000 Kingdom Credits or 1.000 VP to unlock it instantly.
Cypher, Skye, Fade and Raze in the spotlight
Cypher
Trapwire, one of Cypher's signature abilities, gets a much-needed buff in this update. Trapwire will now stagger an enemy caught in its line in half the time it once did, from a three-second delay to a 1,5-second delay. This will give enemies less time to break the wire before it can shake their teammates.
In addition, the slow effect caused by being tagged by a tripwire will now last longer, increasing from 0,75 seconds to two seconds. Finally, and perhaps the coolest new change to the ability, Tripwire is no longer disposable. If you manage to catch an enemy inside the wire, it will now rearm itself to catch one again.
You can't cloak Cypher's traps as effectively as Killjoy's Alarmbot and Nanoswarms. Some agents, such as Raze, Jett, and Omen, can avoid triggering traps by using their mobility or displacement powers. The amount of effort Cypher main players had to put into setting up crafty schemes was overwhelming compared to the number of counters available.
With the latest changes, Riot aims to strengthen Cypher's effectiveness as a field anchor and reward him for establishing good setups. Opposing players will have to make more efforts to overcome Cypher's traps and enter the field.
Skye and Fade
The changes made to both Skye and Fade directly correspond to the intended result of the changes made to Cypher's Trapwire.
Skye's Trailblazer ability, which she uses when she sends a creature forward to scout, will now have an updated hitbox when interacting with Trapwire. When the wire is placed “at mid-height,” the Trailblazer dog will simply pass under the wire rather than triggering or destroying it.
Similar to the changes made to Skye's Trailblazer, Fade's Prowler will feature an updated hitbox that allows them to pass under Cypher's head-level Trip Wires and over foot-level wires.
These changes could count as a buff, as Trailblazers and Prowlers can now pass through strictly placed Trip Wires undetected, but they also mean that sending a Trailblazer or Prowler alone may not break the wire, leaving it to another teammate to do the job.
Riot added these changes to force players to be more aware when using Skye and Fade's ability to disrupt Cypher's traps; It won't be that easy to hit a trap with Trailblazer or Prowler anymore. No changes to Trailblazer or Prowler will affect hitboxes when shooting at “dogs”
rays
Raze is getting a blanket nerf in the VALORANT 7.09 patch notes, and while I know it'll piss a few of you off, I'm definitely smiling. You won't get a kill out of the blue by simply throwing a grenade with incredible damage without thinking.
With Patch 7.09, the explosion radius and damage radius of Raze's Paint Shell grenade have been reduced. The primary explosion will now have a range of 5,5 meters instead of six meters and will deal at least one HP of damage instead of 15 HP. The secondary explosion now has a radius of 5,25 meters instead of six meters and will deal at least one HP of damage instead of 15 HP.
In addition, Paint Projectiles will now deal less damage to companion items, and the 250 percent multiplier will be reduced to 100 percent. These changes will make Raze grenades deal less “accidental” kills, requiring a more calculated strategy to actually kill with this ability.
Raze's satchels or Burst Packs also receive a debuff. Satchels will no longer deal damage until fully armed and the arming time will be increased from 0,5 seconds to 1,5 seconds.
Judge is being nerfed!
Judge, arguably one of the most powerful weapons in the game, is finally receiving a nerf after repeated requests from the community.
While the gun is better than its weaker shotgun counterpart, Bucky, the focus of VALORANT gameplay generally doesn't revolve around incredibly close-range interactions, causing this weapon to throw a wrench into the game's identity over the past few months.
Judge's maximum magazine size is being reduced from seven rounds to five. In addition, the weapon will now be much less effective while moving, and bullet dispersion will be increased when firing, both while jumping and running. Spread while jumping is increased from 1,25 to 2,25, and spread while running is increased from 0,1 to 0,75.
New Premier optimization changes
Patch 7.09 will bring a number of new changes to VALORANT's Premier mode, adding timeouts, scrimmages, and general matchmaking changes to improve players' competitive experience.
Riot also reduced the number of points teams will need to qualify for the playoffs from 675 to 600. Additionally, there will now be an equal number of teams in each Premier region to support the infrastructure of teams in each region.
A new Team Creation Window is being introduced, aiming to make it easier for teams to find new players. Best of all, your Premier team will now have a crest that changes with you at every stage to reflect your performance.
Mute players when you report them
In a much-needed player behavior update, Riot has added the ability to mute a player you just reported in a VALORANT game, so you won't have to mute them individually.
Updated friend icons for other Riot games
You'll now see new player icon styles for users in your friends list who play other Riot games like League of Legends, Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics, and more.
- People in Riot Mobile and TFT are now detected separately and have unique icons.
- People who go online on Riot Mobile have a “gray dot” Gamer Pass.
- The insecure “Unknown Product” icon is now a red Riot fist instead of a gray dot
All bug fixes in VALORANT 7.09 Patch Notes
Patch 7.09 is minimal in the bug department, fixing only two minor issues that have been lingering in VALORANT for a while. Here are all the bug fixes included in this patch:
- Fixed an audio bug that caused footsteps to be heard when players left a rope, even if they held down the Shift key.
- Fixed an issue where some people's hardware configurations were resulting in a white screen at login.
